Mozart

and

His Age

Michael Grace, Department of Music
Colorado College

A study of the music and brief life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the most striking manifestations of genius in the 18th Century.  The music of his immediate predecessors will be reviewed as a foundation for studying his work.

An examination of 18th-century society, the age of the Enlightenment, as a context for the man and his music.

A consideration of how Mozart's music "speaks" to modern audiences, and what we can still learn from it.
