A Few Websites on Mozart

The Mozart Project
www.mozartproject.org
This is the most impressive site on Mozart. In it you can find 1) a very readable biography, 2) a complete list of his works (based on Köchel), 3) selected essays, 4) a bibliography, and 5) a list of other sites on the WWW. You might note that it is not complete. If you look at the catalogue of works, for example, you will find excellent essays on some individual works (these are indicated by an underlined title). Most of the major works are yet to be done. Still, this is a first-rate site and well worth browsing.

Home of W.A. Mozart

www.openmozart.net

This is basically a chat box for Mozart buffs.  It does have, however, some interesting features such as a large image gallery with all the usual pictures of Mozart and many others of his family, other composers, professional associates, houses where he lived and worked, instruments, etc.  There are even reproductions of some of his manuscripts and letters.

Neue Mozart Ausgabe
www.nma.at/
The Neue Mozart-Ausgabe is an institution that, since the 1950s, has been working on the modern critical edition of all
compositions created by Mozart.  This site includes searchable databases of Mozart's compositions and autograph
scores.  Although many links are in German, there is an English version.  This is as close to an "official" Mozart site as there is.

Alexandre H. Hohmann’s Mozart Page
www.geocities.com/Vienna/Strasse/9570/mozart/index.html
This site is perhaps most enjoyable for its pictures of Mozart and his family. Most of the know Mozart portraits or drawings are found here in color. The site also contains an interesting sampling of Mozart's letters. One can get an excellent sense of his personality from reading these. (The dirty ones are not represented.)
