Week 1 (Thanksgiving Week) November 24-25 or 26. Week 2 

December 1-5.

Week 3 December 8-12  

We'll start with the Augustan form of the Roman foundation myth in Vergil's Aeneid: Books 1-8. (Study questions)

Tuesday's reading: Aeneid 1-4: read the study questions and (today or tomorrow) post an answer to the Class Public Folder--located in the Academic Departments section of the Outlook Public Folders, under Classics)

Wednesday: 5-8

Finish the Aeneid and and and write a paper on it, cover Livy on the early history: Book 1 for Tuesday and Wednesday. Books 3-5 for Thursday and Friday.

Cicero and Lucretius: Monday Cicero Part I; Tuesday Part II; Wednesday Lucretius books 1-3; Thursday 4-6; Friday and onward: JoAnn Shelton--chapters XV and XIV, religion and philosophy, and middle-brow culture, for Friday. This week you'll get started on a final project/paper for the block.

December 15-19
 
Shelton and individual/group projects. Friday will be for handing in work, but we'll have no class. Monday: Shelton chapters I, II and XIII; Tuesday and Wednesday, further chapters and student presentations.
