In January of 1957, black leaders from
eleven Southern states met at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
The black leaders, most of them ministers, formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). The SCLC coordinated efforts to racially integrate restaurants, snack bars, motels, etc., throughout the South. |
