THIS IS THE FIRST OF YOUR OVERNIGHT ASSIGNMENTS. Bring in an image of an anthropologist and/or of what an anthropologist studies–you can write a description or draw an anthropologist based on your previous ideas; you can describe an image you’ve seen in popular culture; you can bring in a cartoon or photograph or video clip. Be creative! Once you have selected an image, write 1/2 to 1 page about that image. What are its salient points? What does it make you think of? What does it suggest about anthropology and about what anthropologists do? This particular assignment will not be graded on "correctness"--that is, you will NOT be evaluated on how accurately your image portrays "what anthropologists really do," but rather on the thoughtfulness with which you select or create your image and the richness and care with which you record your impressions of that image.
