Ruth Loomis was the Dean of Women at Colorado College during the 1890s and the early 20th Century. Her strict rules of etiquette and behavior enabled her to create a fine "college for women in a co-educational institution." |
Miss Loomis, as she was always called,
graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 1885.

Vassar College.
It was in the Rose Room that Vassar women perfected their parlor manners. These were the same manners which Miss Loomis taught to the young women of Colorado College. |
