A Detroit housewife, Mrs. Liuzzo came down to Selma to volunteer to help with the voting rights march.

The evening of the day the march reached Montgomery, Viola Liuzzo was giving a number of the marchers an automobile ride back to Selma.

She was shot through the window of her car.
