Adjacent to the park in downtown
Stockholm is Centrallen, the main subway station.
The "T" sign next to the Information sign stands for Tunnelbana, the Swedish word for subway. Note the decorative pattern in the paved walking area. |

The area around the Centrallen subway station has a number of "new town" features despite being in the center of an old city of Europe. Pedestrians and automobiles are separated, and there is public art (the towering sculpture). The subway is a planning tool in Stockholm. Activity centers are located at stops on the subway line. The two major subway lines interchange at Centrallen. |
