Larry

Dan B..

Blue Max (an out of print GDW design) was the original air combat game to which a number of current games around the country owe their inspiration. An Italian design for WWI combat called Clash of Eagles was introduced to our club by Larry, who then expanded COE to include planes and tactics in WWII Europe.

Larry calls his WWII rules DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross). The pictures below show a USAAF bombing mission over Europe. Where are the Mustangs??!!....

Larry also developed charts and rules for air combat in the Korean War with Sabres and Migs, called Mig Alley. Dan B. has placed 1/100th scale jet fighters on large bases with car antenna stalks that move on a hexagonal sheet that lays out on the floor. Take off your shoes and walk through a dogfight that is 4-5 feet in the air and uses 4 inch models! The images above show Ed in the middle of the sky (for scale) and one of Dan's Migs close up.
