A working semaphore stood next to the brand new trilight signal that soon was to replace it.

Note the new trilight signal lying on the ground and ready to be put in place at trackside.

The sidetrack semaphore said "stop."

The mainline semaphore said "caution."

Something was about to happen.

Both westbound semaphore blades had dropped to "stop."

An eastbound train was imminent.
