MA251 Assignments and Grading
Your course grade will be evaluated as follows:
20% on an in-class, closed book, notes and colleagues midterm
20% on an in-class, closed book, notes and colleagues final exam
35% on 5 written homework assignments
10% on your project
15% on active class participation, including presentation of collaborative homework problems in class
Attendance Policy:
Attendance in class is important and mandatory. One unexcused absence is free (everyone sleeps in now and then), but each absence after that results in a one letter grade penalty for your course grade. We are of course accommodating if you are unable to attend class for some legitimate reason (illness, college athletic activity, etc.) Let us know in advance if possible.
We take the Honor Code seriously.
On the two exams, you should not consult your course notes or your text, or speak to anyone about the exam, except your instructors. Please do speak to your instructors if you have any questions or doubts during an exam -- we are there to help!
On the five hand-in homework problems, you should feel free to consult your notes, your textbook and your instructors. You should not discuss these problems with classmates.
On the collaborative homework problems we encourage you to work together with your classmates. In many cases, the best way to learn mathematics is to talk about it and explain it to one another!
