*This last pair of problems refers to the "excursion" on pages 906-907.  The problems themselves are fairly straightforward.  If you choose this pair, read through the "excursion" carefully and fill in any gaps.  Turn in a thorough write-up of the material that explains everything and includes the answers to the two problems.  Someone should be able to read it and understand the whole thing without referring to the textbook.
